the Man Behind the Mission

Aaron Swanger.

Raised just outside Detroit, Michigan, as the son of a preacher, Aaron grew up surrounded by ministry.Over time, a deep frustration began to build. He saw a church culture that often prioritized outward appearances and performance over actual, inner transformation. That dissatisfaction sparked a relentless hunger for something deeper—a faith that was real behind closed doors.

In 2003, a profound encounter with the Lord completely shifted his trajectory. Aaron devoted himself entirely to the Word and the local church. He spent his days in study and his nights leading worship, driven by a simple desire to know Christ truly.

In the summer of 2006, that hunger led Aaron from Michigan to Kansas City, Missouri, where he joined the staff at the International House of Prayer. For over three years, he served in the Nightwatch, leading worship and ministering during intense, uninterrupted prayer sets from midnight to 6:00 a.m.

But it was in 2009 that his calling found its proving ground. Aaron began serving with HopeCityKC, an inner-city ministry focused on day-and-night worship. For the next sixteen years, he took the fire of the prayer room directly to the streets—interceding for and ministering to those battling addiction, poverty, and homelessness, as well as taking the gospel into maximum-security prisons.

How Amplify Began

Stepping Out of the Room to Equip the Church.

After nearly two decades of ministering in both focused prayer rooms and gritty inner-city environments, Aaron realized something vital: the power of raw, authentic intercession was never meant to be confined to a few specific buildings or spiritual elites. To Aaron, Amplify is not just an organization; it is a personal mandate. Launched in early 2023, Amplify was born out of a passion to see the neglected gift or spiritual discipline of intercession restored in everyday believers. Aaron stepped out to take the tools, the confidence, and the breakthrough he witnessed in the trenches and hand them directly to local churches and individuals.

Amplify exists to address the intimidation that keeps believers quiet, and encourages confidence in intercession. It is a declaration that God delights in us, that He responds when we seek Him honestly, and that no one is disqualified from His presence.
